Nearly 100 Croxley jobs to go

Croxley Stationery says nearly 100 workers will lose their jobs when it shuts down its manufacturing arm.

The company said today that demand for traditional paper-based products such as envelopes and writing paper has dropped as emails replace letters.

Other factors were the strength of the New Zealand dollar and widespread availability of cheap imports.

Managing director David Lilburne said the company would concentrate on becoming a dedicated wholesaler after production ends in the middle of next year.
