A woman has died after being hit by a train in Napier.
Police said the incident occurred at about 3.45pm today.
They said members of the public saw the body of the woman, who has not yet been named, lying on railway tracks near Marine Parade.
Police said the driver will be interviewed, but they were not sure if he knew the woman had been run over.
They said a dog with the woman at the time was injured and was taken by the SPCA for treatment.
