Christchurch council considers flood funds

7:31 pm on 31 July 2014

The Christchurch City Council is investigating whether its flooding grievance group can allocate $20,000 each to some households to help with temporary solutions to flooding.

The council will seek a report from staff on the proposal which would help people lift floor levels while repairs to their homes are underway.

Chief executive Karleen Edwards said on Thursday the report would outline the scale of the proposal and what is possible.

Mayor Lianne Dalziel said while it would be good to get it done, the council must look at costs.

The report will be presented in August.
