Professional trying to keep slate clean

9:53 pm on 23 July 2014

A Tauranga professional is asking a judge to keep his criminal offending off his record for the second time.

The man appeared at the Auckland District Court on Wednesday where his lawyer Paul Mabey, QC, asked for a discharge without conviction and name suppression.

The court was told the man sent his son a book with a message in it and his contact details.

He was the subject of a protection order that forbade him any contact with his son after he was discharged without conviction for assaulting the boy.

The judge suppressed the man's name and identifying factors while he considers his decision. The man is due back in court in August.
