Baby held out of moving car - police

8:23 pm on 22 July 2014

Hamilton police say they are treating as very serious reports of a baby being held halfway out of a window of a moving car in the city.

They say an off-duty officer saw the incident while following a vehicle on Avalon Drive shortly after 5pm on Monday.

The officer reported seeing an infant on the lap of an adult passenger in the back seat and that person then holding the child partially out of the window.

The officer said the child looked upset. He followed the car, but lost sight of it.

Police said the registration of the grey Toyota Celica hatchback doesn't match their database.
