Rimutaka Hill Road between Wellington and the Wairarapa, and Banks Peninsula's Dyers Pass Road have been cleared of snow and are open, the New Zealand Transport Agency says.
Both roads closed overnight after heavy snow.
The Desert Road, in the central North Island, was also closed overnight but reopened earlier today. However, snow was falling again so it could close again, an agency spokesperson said.
Drivers in Otago and Southland were warned to take care as black ice could form on the roads.
