Police appeal after teen assaulted

7:07 pm on 18 July 2014

Police in Auckland are investigating a series of sexual and physical assaults on a teenage girl after she accepted a ride in a car.

Police say the 16-year-old was walking near the Glen Eden shops about 11pm on 10 July when a man offered her a ride.

They say he first drove her to Ken Maunder Park in New Lynn, where he assaulted her, and then to Victor Street in Avondale, where the assaults continued.

She was then left at the main carpark at Auckland Zoo at 2am.

The man is described as Indian, with a beard and aged in his 30s.

Police want to hear from anyone in those areas at those times, or who saw a silver 4-door hatchback.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered a ride from a man fitting the same description, even if a different car was involved.
