Teen arrested after stabbing near school

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in relation to a stabbing at a South Auckland school this week.

Two teenagers suffered serious injuries after a fight outside Southern Cross Campus on Tuesday. One of them was hurt with a pocket knife.

The boy faces charges of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and injuring with intent to injure. He was to appear in the Manukau Youth Court on Friday.

11-year-old still in coma

An 11-year-old boy stabbed on Tuesday at another South Auckland school about 4km away remains in a coma.

The boy is in Starship Hospital's intensive care unit with stab wounds after being in a fight with another 11-year-old at Pacific Christian School in Mangere Bridge.

Police say the investigation is progressing well and the majority of interviews with child witnesses will be completed at the end of Friday.
