Police have concerns for a German tourist who has not been heard from since early February.
Anja Schulze arrived in New Zealand on 7 December last year and travelled throughout the North Island before heading to the South Island.
A police spokesperson said on Wednesday that Ms Schulze boarded a ferry on 29 January, travelling from Wellington to Picton with another person.
The spokesperson said her last confirmed communication was with a friend in Switzerland on 2 February.
