A man who chased down and killed another man with his car in Auckland in 2012 has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Sitanilei Vailahi Haufano, 26, was convicted of the manslaughter of Sonny Ofa in the suburb of Waterview in November, 2012.
The victim, Sonny Ofa, had been running up the road after an argument with Haufano. But Haufano chased him with his car, hit him and ran him over.
Justice Wylie said instead of stopping to check on the victim, Haufano sped away and later concocted a story with friends to tell police.
A letter of remorse from Haufano was read in court but the victim's wife, Karinya Ofa, said she had not received it.
Mrs Ofa said Haufano had wrecked her life and left her eight-month-old son without a father.
