A New Plymouth bar manager says a brawl between staff and Southland Sharks basketball players early on Sunday morning was intense and frightening.
Three Invercargill men, aged 19, 21 and 28, have been arrested and charged with assault with intent to injure.
Manager of the Crowded House bar, Max O'Leary, said the players arrived at about 2.30am on Sunday but were denied entry.
He said a security guard was knocked unconscious, and then other staff and players got involved.
The men will appear in the New Plymouth District Court on Wednesday.
