Police seek knife-fight witnesses

Police in Christchurch are appealing for witnesses after an early morning knife-fight between two men, in the central city on Friday.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Quested said one of the men was seriously injured in the fight, near the intersection of Hereford Street and Fitzgerald Avenue about 4 o'clock on Friday.

The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital and is expected to require surgery on his arm.

Police are speaking to those involved but have yet to make an arrest.

In a separate incident on Thursday night, a man was arrested after a fight between two men at an address in Sydenham.

A man, aged in his 20s, received stab wounds to his back, chest and arms in what police believe was a family dispute.
