Arrests after armed hold-up of tourist

Three men have been arrested over the armed hold-up of a Mexican tourist in northern Hawke's Bay.

Police say the 30-year-old tourist was picked up in a ute and driven to the top of Mohaka Hill on Monday afternoon, where one of the men pulled out a gun and took his belongings.

The tourist was shaken but otherwise unharmed.

Police from Wairoa and Gisborne on Tuesday morning arrested and charged three males, aged 17, 19, and 22, with aggravated robbery.

They are due top appear in the Gisborne District Court on Wednesday.

Police also found the vehicle used in the robbery as well as some of the tourist's property.

Sergeant Mike O'Brien said there were still several items belonging to the tourist that had not been found.

"If anyone has any information about these items and knows where they might be, we would like to hear from them. We're also keen to speak to anyone who has information about the robbery and those involved with it," Mr O'Brien said.

Police also wanted to thank members of the public who had already provided information which led to the arrests of the three men.
