Petrol pickets on hold as talks resume

The union representing tanker drivers on indefinite strike has suspended pickets at service stations.

Six Whangarei drivers who work for Toll Group have been on strike for a pay rise since 1 May.

The First Union had planned to picket at Wellington and Christchurch BP petrol stations on Thursday afternoon to show its support but this was put on hold following the resumption of talks between the parties.

The union said bargaining with Toll Group would resume on Friday.

Drivers have been negotiating a collective agreement since January.
