Volunteering New Zealand wants organisations that are struggling to write child protection policy to buddy-up with similar groups that already have guidelines.

A lack of child protection policies by sporting clubs and cultural organisations has been blamed for leaving some children vulnerable to abuse.
The Volunteering New Zealand chief executive Vanisa Dhiru says while volunteer organisations want to prioritise child protection, it can be a struggle.
She said organisations that needed assistance could use its best practice guidelines for volunteer groups as a basis for developing child protection systems.
And the Christchurch School of Music's musical director, Celia Stewart, said it was a huge challenge to develop policy and keep it relevant to all the situations where children could be vulnerable.
But she said the school was trying to work smarter, rather than re-invent the wheel.
