The Westland District mayor says if his council does not start to perform better the Government will hold it to account.

The former Local Government Minister, Chris Tremain, told the council last year it was on watch and needed to pick up its performance.
The council is now in touch with the officer of the new minister, Paula Bennett, and her advisers.
The mayor, Mike Havill, said the Government offered support as the council addressed its sustainability and planned to match its revenue with expenditure.
