No hot water yet in parts of Auckland

10:00 pm on 20 April 2014

There are still a few pockets of Auckland with no hot water, three days after a storm that lashed most of the country.

About 25,000 people in Auckland had their power knocked out at the height of the storm in the region on Thursday.

Power company Vector had restored electricity to all its customers on Sunday, but says some houses still don't have hot water back.

Vector says New Lynn and Titirangi in West Auckland still have no hot water, and crews are working to fix them.

There is no timeframe on when they will be fixed.

Still no power in South Westland

Three hundred people in South Westland are still without power.

Line crews restored power to the Franz Josef village on Saturday evening and are focusing on Sunday on returning power supply to most residents in Whataroa.

Westpower said damage caused by the high winds has been extensive throughout South Westland, with lines taken out by falling trees and high winds.

It could be another couple of days before people south of Fox Glacier get their power back on.

In Greymouth, crews are working on restoring power to around 40 houses and there are another 30 who will need to be reconnected once they have repairs made to their houses.
