One of the tourists attacked on the West Coast by an armed man says her thoughts go out to the family of the woman allegedly killed by him.

An Otaki man is facing a number of charges, including the aggravated robbery and wounding with intent of Niki Honda, a 27-year-old of Japanese/Dutch origin, and Michaela Brandl, 28, from Germany.

The women suffered stab wounds and broken bones in the attack on 30 March.

The 38-year-old man has also been charged with the sexual violation and murder of 24-year-old Amy Farrall, whose body was found in the boot of a car in a supermarket carpark in the Christchurch suburb of Woolston also on 30 March.

In a statement, Ms Honda said she is truly sorry to hear of the loss of Miss Farrall and her thoughts and prayers go to her family and friends during this difficult time.

Ms Honda and Ms Brandl were released from Christchurch Hospital on Monday afternoon.
