Police are trying to identify a body washed up on Rapahoe Beach on the West Coast.
The body was found shortly before 9pm on Wednesday by a search team after the police were alerted by a member of the public to the possibility of human remains in the area.
A scene examination has been completed and the body has been recovered; it will undergo a forensic examination.
The coroner has been advised.
