A man is in a critical condition in Rotorua Hospital after being shot while hunting near Opotiki.
A rescue helicopter was sent to a remote bush area south-east of the Bay of Plenty town after a personal locator beacon was activated on Monday about 1.30pm.
Police say the man in his 20s was part of a hunting party with two others from the Hamilton area. An investigation is underway.
