Hop farmer receives international award

A Nelson hop farmer has been recognised for his pioneering work in organic hop production by being made a Knight of the Order of the Hop.

Colin Oldham of Tapawera is one of only a handful in the southern hemisphere to receive this international hop industry award and .

New Zealand Hops chief executive Doug Donelan, says it's an extraordinary achievement, as it's very hard to grow organic hops successfully.

Mr Oldham and his wife, Alana Riley, have been involved in organic hops production for more than 20 years.
