Police have used roadspikes to stop a vehicle carrying two people who are alleged to have pointed a firearm at the occupants of a house in the Wellington suburb of Kilbirnie.
Officers searched a Kilbirnie property and the wider Wellington area on Saturday evening looking for the offender and a woman who had been with him.
A car believed to be carrying both people was seen a hour later in Kilbirnie and was pursued to the Hutt Valley.
Police put road spikes up along the Western Hutt Road, which stopped the vehicle.
A woman has been charged wih driving offences and released on bail, while a man is facing firearms and drugs charges.
The police say the pursuit did not reach excessive speeds.
