A yacht has sunk off Waiheke Island after catching fire and burning to the waterline.
The Fire Service says initial calls to emergency services described a ferry on fire at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.
It says the two people on the yacht when the fire broke out took to a liferaft.
Firefighters from the Parnell station were taken to the floating blaze by the police launch.
