The police in Auckland say the condition of a man critically injured at a party after the rugby league Nines tournament is improving.
The 23-year-old turned up at a Mt Eden house party with his brother, after leaving Eden Park on Saturday night.
He was attacked just after eight o'clock, and taken to Auckland Hospital with head injuries, in a critical condition.
He is now in a stable condition.
Police say about 50 people were at the party, and most of them have been identified.
