Representatives of the Countdown supermarket chain have met with the Food and Grocery Council to discuss allegations of anti-competitive behaviour.
Under parliamentary privilege last week, Labour MP Shane Jones accused Countdown of demanding retrospective cash payments from some suppliers to make up for lost profits.
Progressive Enterprises owns the chain and denies the allegations, which are being investigated by the Commerce Commission.
Countdown's managing director Dave Chambers said on Monday the meeting was constructive and covered a range of issues.
Mr Chambers said the information discussed is confidential and he would not be commenting further.
