Police have named a man who was killed in a motorcycle crash near Tauranga on Saturday.
He was Christopher Neil Solomann, aged 61, of Gisborne.
Police say it appears he failed to negotiate a moderate bend on State Highway Two, struck the kerb and crashed into a bank.
No other vehicles were involved.
Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact the Tauranga police.
