A man has been arrested in relation to a bank robbery in South Auckland. The offender claimed he had a bomb when he robbed the BNZ in Manukau in late January.
That resulted in significant traffic disruption as emergency services and the Defence bomb squad cleared the area.
The bomb threat was a hoax.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Ellwood said a man, 46, was arrested at a Tuakau property at about 7am on Friday.
He was charged with aggravated robbery and cultivating cannabis.
Police said the man was caught after a number of people recognised him from surveillance footage of the robbery.
