Police say searchers looking for a man who fell from a waterfall have recovered a body from a river, near Murchison.
The man and another man were in a pool above Maruia Falls on Saturday evening when the pair were caught in strong currents.
A 55-year-old Christchurch man was pulled to safety by onlookers and taken to Nelson Hospital in a critical condition. The hospital later on Sunday said his condition was stable.
A police dive squad found the body of a the other man about 3.30pm on Sunday.
He has not been formally identified.
