The Earthquake Commission says it has repaired more than 50,000 quake-damaged homes in Christchurch.

The 50,174 houses all had damage worth less than $100,000.

Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee says about 1800 full home repairs are being completed each month, with more than 500 local contracting firms completing about 90 repairs a day.

Mr Brownlee says 47,000 emergency repairs have been carried out.

The Canterbury Home Repair Programme began in October 2010 following the award of the management contract to Fletcher EQR.
