Police in Christchurch believe two armed robberies in the city on Sunday night may be related to a spate of robberies carried out before Christmas.
Investigators are now carrying out scene examinations at two popular city pubs.
The Coasters Tavern in Redwood, was robbed at gunpoint at about 9.45pm and, the other, The Brewery in Woolston was robbed at 11pm.
In both incidents, two males carrying firearms entered the bar and made off with cash.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Sweeney believes it is likely there are links between the latest incidents and the robberies at licensed premises in Riccarton and Merivale prior to Christmas.
