The Government says it is spending more than $3 million on an international teaching summit and education events next year.
The summit is being organised for the OECD and the international federation of teacher unions, Education International.
It will attract 400 delegates from 25 OECD nations with high performing education systems, and five other countries with rapidly improving systems.
The Education Ministry says it has a budget of $2 million for the delegates' accommodation, and for the summit itself.
It will spend $1.12 million on education festivals held before the summit in March.
