Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully has praised the work of the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Philippines, as staff carrying out aid there work prepare to return home.
A C-130 Hercules and crew had delivered relief supplies to Tacloban, which was devastated by Typhoon Haiyan this month.
More than 5000 people were killed and more than 1 million homes destroyed by the typhoon.
Mr McCully said the Hercules has delivered more than 270 tonnes of supplies and evacuated more than 1000 survivors since it started operations in the Philippines on 16 November.
The C-130 will be back in New Zealand next week.
