Twenty-three people have been arrested in major drug busts across New Zealand over the last two days.

Police say thousands of ecstasy pills have been seized in raids on 20 properties between Bay of Plenty and Canterbury.

They say those arrested have been charged with a range of offences including supplying methamphetamine and manufacturing and supplying ecstasy.

Police have also seized more than $2 million worth of assets and cash and say the arrests will put a dent in the illegal drug trade.
