Dunedin chief executive poised to return to Wales

Dunedin City Council chief executive Paul Orders is poised to leave the job and return to his hometown in Wales after being recommended for a top position there.

Paul Orders has told mayor Dave Cull about a potential appointment to chief executive of Cardiff Council but says he will not know whether it has given its formal approval until this Thursday.

Mr Orders joined the council in September 2011 after leaving Cardiff Council. He says the new role is one of the few positions that could attract him away from Dunedin.

Mr Cull says Mr Orders has been an outstanding chief executive and the council would be extremely sorry to see him go.
