Police in Christchurch are looking for other people involved in the death of a man in Rangiora in Friday night.

A Rakaia man appeared in Christchurch District Court on Monday charged with the murder of Tony Lochhead, 51, who died after a fight in the driveway of his house.

The man, 36, who has name suppression, was arrested on Sunday night for a breach of bail.

He is also charged with aggravated robbery and wounding Mr Lochhead's brother, Peter, who tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate Mr Lochhead.

The accused entered no plea and was remanded in custody until 11 October.

Detective Inspector David Long said he is not ruling out further arrests.
