Auckland's longest serving council politician has called time on his career. Assid Corban was first elected in 1956.
He was the Mayor of Henderson and first mayor of Waitakere District Council.
In his final speech, Mr Corban told Auckland Council members that representatives need to remember they represent the community not their own political philsophies.
