An American skier lost on Treble Cone in Wanaka has been found alive, but with both legs broken.
Rescue teams found the man on Tuesday morning during an aerial search.
Wanaka Search and Rescue spokesperson Phil Melchior said Toby Kravet, 72, is doing remarkably well considering he has fractures to both legs and spent a night on his back in the snow.
Mr Melchoir said he kept himself warm and awake throughout the night and managed to ward off hypothermia.
Mr Kravet has been taken to the Wanaka medical centre for treatment.
