2:46 pm on 19 August 2013

The family of the Chilean teenager who died in Milford Sound during the weekend has arrived in Invercargill.

Police in Invercargill have named the 19-year-old as Martin Ambrosio Celery-Halabi.

A police spokesperson says the man was one of three who climbed to an area above the 161 metre high Bowen Waterfall at about 5.30pm on Saturday.

He is believed to have slipped and fallen while trying to take photos.

The man's family arrived from Chile on Sunday night and is being looked after by Victim Support.

The family hopes to visit the Sound on Tuesday, depending on the weather.

The matter is now referred to the coroner.
