Staff at an Auckland war veterans' rest home are planning a protest outside its grounds, saying a private firm that took over management is slashing their pay.
The Ranfurly Veterans home, in Mount Roskill, used to be run by a trust but its directors handed its operations to a private company, Ranfurly Villages, last year.
The Nurses Union says the 70 staff, some of whom have worked there for 20 years, are now being asked to take pay cuts of up to $100 a week.
A union spokesperson says most have decided to strike and will picket on Thursday afternoon.
The Ranfurly War Veterans Trust says it could not afford vital upgrades to the home without the involvement of the private firm.
It says it is confident the dispute can be resolved.
