Christchurch consents plan delivered

11:55 am on 15 August 2013

The Christchurch City's Council's Crown manager has delivered his first report on the organisation's embattled building consents department.

Local Government Minister Chris Tremain said he had received Doug Martin's initial action plan, which addresses how problems within the department can be fixed.

Mr Martin was appointed Crown manager last month after the council was stripped of its building consents accreditation for failing to assure International Accreditation New Zealand it was issuing them properly.

One of Mr Martin's main aims is to reinstate that accreditation and an indication of how that process is progressing should be known when his initial action plan is made public early next week.
