Police in Dunedin are trying to find out if a luxury car found in a shipping container is linked to the convicted fraudster Michael Swann.
Swann was released last week after four and a half years in prison for stealing $16.8 million from the former Otago District Health Board.
Police discovered the car - which they say appears to be an older-style Rolls-Royce - at a Port Otago container yard on Wednesday after it was reported by a member of the public.
Police have previously confiscated four Rolls-Royces belonging to Swann but they say that as this one has no numberplates, it's too early to say if it's another of his. They are focussing their inquiries on the make and model.
Proceeds from Swann's crime are still being sought under a $6 million court order.
