Police say the charge against a teenager in relation to the death of a homeless man in Auckland could be upgraded depending on the results of a post-mortem.
Edwin Linder, 42, died in hospital on Saturday after being found beaten and unconscious on Mills Lane in the central city last week.
A 17-year-old appeared in the Auckland District Court on Monday facing a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police say a post-mortem was carried out on Monday and further charges will be laid in the next couple of days.
The teenager will reappear in court on Tuesday.
