Judge reserves decision in Hubbard crash trial

3:45 pm on 25 July 2013

A judge has reserved his decision in the trial of the man charged with causing the death of Canterbury financier Allan Hubbard.

Mr Hubbard was killed when the car he and his wife were in collided with a four-wheel-drive north of Oamaru in September 2011.

Andy Earl, of Mosgiel, pleaded not guilty to charges of careless driving causing death and careless driving causing injury to Mr Hubbard's wife Jean.

A trial was held in June this year at Oamaru District Court, sitting at Timaru, and adjourned so new evidence could be considered.

The matter was recalled on Friday, but no new evidence was presented and has been adjourned again for a reserved decision.
