Guns stolen from unlocked Waikato homes

Police are investigating the theft of unsecured guns from homes in Waikato in the past three weeks.

Three rural homes at Paeroa, Karangahake and Whitianga were burgled and four firearms of various calibres were taken from each property.

Police say in all three cases homeowners were out and had left their houses unlocked.

District firearms officer Richard Plas warns owners it is their responsibility to ensure guns are secured and they risk losing their firearms licence if they are negligent.
