Engineers give all-clear to CTV-style buildings in capital

Structural engineers have given the all-clear to 55 out of 60 Wellington buildings being checked because they have columns like those in the CTV building that collapsed in Christchurch in 2011. The remaining five should be checked by August.

In Auckland, 23 of 43 buildings with such columns have so far been cleared.

The Auckland Council does not know how long it will take to check the remaining 20 and it has another 100 or so buildings it needs more information on.

The CTV building collapsed killing 115 people in the 2011 Christchurch quake, triggering checks nationwide of several hundred buildings with non-ductile columns.
