A 10-year-old Northland boy has died after falling off his horse.
Emergency services were called to a property in Waiomio, south of Kawakawa, at about 6.30 on Saturday evening.
Police say the horse bolted, dragging the boy for some distance. They say they are investigating the incident, which has been referred to the coroner.
No further details are being released until distant family members have been advised.
