Wilson's appeal against prison recall rejected

A High Court judge has turned down convicted sex offender Stewart Murray Wilson's appeal against his recall to prison.

The Parole Board recalled Wilson to prison in April after he breached some of his release conditions by repeatedly phoning a woman he had been banned from contacting.

In a judgment released on Wednesday, Justice MacKenzie said Wilson's parole conditions were designed to address the long-term risk which arose from the pattern of his offending, which included the grooming of vulnerable women.

He said Wilson was consistently assessed as having a high to very high risk of reoffending and was released from prison only because he could no longer be detained.

The Judge said the Parole Board was correct to regard Wilson's breach of his conditions as serious.
