Detours were put in place around State Highway 29 near Tauranga on Friday morning after a fatal crash.
One person died when a car and a logging truck collided at about 8.15am.
Diversions were put in place through Poripori Rd for Tauranga-bound vehicles and for Waikato-bound traffic through Cambridge Rd, State Highway 2 and Wairoa Rd and Poripori Rd.
Police said motorists using the Waikato diversion should take extreme care.
