The brother of a New Zealander who died after trying to save a couple in a Thailand power plant says his brother always put other people before himself.
Michael Coppins, who 51, died in hospital on Sunday after he, a colleague, and the couple had passed out because of a gas leak.
His Thai colleague also died, but the couple survived.
Phil Coppins told Radio New Zealand's Morning Report programme his brother's actions were not out of the ordinary because he always thought about others first.
He said the family is now working with officials to return his brother's body to either Malaysia, where his widow and children are, or New Zealand.
