A Far North man accused of killing a couple near Pamapuria in May was again remanded in custody on Monday.
Edwin Mahino, 38, is charged with the fatal shooting of his relative, Ivin and Carmen Mahino at their home on 19 May.
The court heard that the psychiatric reports on his fitness to plead are not yet complete, but will be ready in time for a hearing on 29 June.
As the accused was led out of the dock at Kaitaia District Court, he gave a stiff armed salute and shouted, ''kia kaha'' to Mahino whanau members, who filled the public seats for his brief appearance.
